PM Narendra Modi to MPs: Hold Padyatras in constituencies

Special Correspondent(New Delhi): Prime Minister took an important decision to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s vision on rural economy and asked the party BJP MPs to hold “padayatras” in their constituencies engaging with eminent citizens from each booth.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the MPs to hold the “Padyatras” between Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel October 31, addressing BJP Parliamentary party meeting here at Parliament Library Building.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told reporters after the meeting, “The PM mentioned a very important program regarding Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October to 31st October, a 150 km Padyatra will be undertaken in each Lock Sabha constituency by MPs.”

MPs have been asked to organize programs on Gandhiji, freedom struggle and launch tree plantation drive. At least 15 to 20 teams will be formed in each constituency and they will undertake 15 km Padyatra daily, Joshi reported.

Padayatra will focus on revival of villages and making them self-reliant.

Prime minister asked the MPs to engage local people at each booth and make the event “apolitical”, a BJP leader who was present in the meeting said. The 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi has brought the reason to celebrate and spread his message.

Supporting Padyatra, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was present in the meeting, briefed the MPs on the major takeaways of the budget and spread the message across the country.
