Special Correspondent (Mumbai): Rashid Khan appointed Afghanistan captain in all formats. Rashid Khan has been appointed the captain of Afghanistan cricket team in all three formats. Former skipper Asghar Afghan will be his deputy, the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced on Friday.
Rashid Khan will succeed Gulbadin Naib, who had led Afghanistan in their World Cup 2019 campaign.
The ACB had removed Asghar Afghan from the captain’s post just three months before the World Cup and appointed Gulbadin in his place, a move which was met with a lot of criticism and backlash from fans and the Afghan players.
Gulbadin Naib had himself explicit that Asghar Afghan would invariably be his captain whereas Rashid and senior player Muhammad Nabi conjointly voiced their dissatisfaction with the appointment.
